Michael Berkeley’s guest this week is the boxer and bassoonist Hannah Rankin, who grew up on a sheep farm near Loch Lomond, and this year made history by becoming the first Scottish woman to win a boxing world title.

Equally at home in the orchestra pit as the boxing ring, she is also a highly accomplished bassoonist who performs with the London Sinfonietta, at the St Petersburg Ballet Theatre, and the London Coliseum. She chooses music by Mendelssohn, Sibelius, Humperdinck and Tchaikovsky.
