Blind must get help in shopping, say charities
Blind people should be classified as vulnerable to get priority shopping, charities have said after a gang tried to mug a visually impaired customer.
Blind and partially sighted people are struggling to get supplies because they are unable to practise social distancing and find it hard to get online delivery slots because they are not on the official list of vulnerable people.
The charities’ call, in a letter to The Sunday Telegraph, came as Andrew Law, 40, a blind man in south London, was set upon by a gang as he left a store with groceries. They escaped emptyhanded after he raised the alarm.
