Precious plasma

People who have recovered from coronavirus have begun volunteering to donate antibodyrich blood plasma as part of a clinical trial across the country. At Liverpool Donor Centre are Nicola Green, left, a solicitor who spent two days in hospital suffering from a fever caused by the virus on March 31 and Mark Smith, 50, below, a policeman from the city, who tested positive in March. The procedure takes around 45 minutes in a process of separation called apheresis.
