China warns US over ‘suppression’

The United States must stop the “unreasonable suppression” of Chinese companies such as Huawei, the country’s foreign ministry said yesterday.

The Trump administration moved to block global chip supplies to the blacklisted telecoms equipment giant on Friday, spurring fears of Chinese retaliation and hammering share values of US chipmakers.

China will firmly defend its companies’ legal rights, the foreign ministry said.
