The beauty of wildflower­s left free to bloom

SIR – One positive consequenc­e of the current situation is that our surroundin­gs are greener.

The verges in and around towns, which would normally have been cut, are now full of grasses and wildflower­s, providing a feast for beleaguere­d insects. Let us hope that this results in a change in councils’ “grass-cutting” policies, and that they leave our verges alone in future.
