Wheelchair marathon in champion’s memory

A stud owner who broke her neck in a riding accident has set out to complete a wheelchair marathon in memory of a champion horse rider. Sharon Maynard has raised £3,500 for the charity Brain Cancer Research and plans to complete her 26.2-mile feat at Milton Keynes Shopping Centre on June 21. In April, she lost close friend Rory Gilsenan, 50, a Horse of the Year Show trophy winner, to a brain tumour.
