Glazed in Britain

SIR – Phil Williams (Letters, July 26) is wrong to suggest that a large proportion of double-glazing is imported from Germany.

While this might have been true 40 years ago, the manufactur­e of sealed double-glazed units – as well as both polyvinyl chloride and aluminium frames – for the domestic market is carried out almost entirely in Britain.
