Fire at Cadbury World destroys its social club

A fire at Birmingham’s Cadbury World attraction has destroyed the staff social club.

Firemen worked through Friday night to save The Cadbury Club, opposite the Bournville factory site, after the building caught fire shortly before 5pm, with people inside. There were no reported injuries.

It is unclear how the fire started, but it engulfed the two-storey brick building and brought down its roof, West Midlands Fire Service said.

Footage on social media showed flames and thick black smoke pouring from the building.

It follows another large fire in the south-east of the city – in a plastics factory on the Tyseley Industrial Estate.
