New planning laws must not sacrifice quality
SIR – I hope that, before the easing of planning regulations takes place (Letters, August 9), the laws regarding building quality are examined.
The current regulations are not fit for purpose. It seems local authorities’ ability to police the materials used and competency of contractors is almost non-existent. Unless the question of quality is addressed, there will be a risk of further disasters like the Grenfell Tower fire. Dr Michael A Fopp Soulbury, Buckinghamshire
