In this episode, Kirsty Wark brings together some of the people involved in responding to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill disaster in April 2010, which coated more than 1,000 miles of American coastline in crude oil. Wark hears from Mark Mazzella, BP’s well-control expert who fought to stop the oil flow; Admiral Thad Allen, who co-ordinated the US federal response; Keith Jones, whose son Gordon worked on the rig and was killed in the accident; and Bob Kaluza, one of two BP supervisor­s on the rig that night.

Wiseman begins in 1727 when Handel’s Zadok the Priest was first performed at the coronation of George II, and explores the history of the title Master of the King’s Musick, before presenting a new compositio­n of her own in honour of George III, introduced by Hollywood royalty (and erstwhile screen Henry VIII), Damian Lewis.
