Further showers could result in wettest May

-

More rain showers are forecast for the week ahead, setting the scene for what could be one of the wettest Mays on record. By Friday, 91 per cent of the expected rain for the entire month had fallen, with 63.5mm already.

The wettest May on record was in 1967, when 131.7mm of rain fell. The Met Office said that even if the record is not broken, it will be a “notably wet month”, but gave a ray of hope for “a dry trend” at the beginning of June.
