Double hero

SIR – Your report (May 30) on the death of Alfred White says he was believed to be the last surviving Dunkirk and D-Day veteran.

The Royal British Legion branch of which I am president has a dual veteran who has just celebrated his 102nd birthday. He also commanded a swimming tank, which he successfully landed on the beach.

SIR – My uncle, HW Peter Coleman, was also a veteran of Dunkirk and D-Day. He is still well and truly alive, and celebrated his 100th birthday in January.
