Marilyn Monroe dress up for auction at £210k
The polka-dot dress worn by Marilyn Monroe in the film The Seven Year Itch is up for auction valued at £210,000.
The actress is seen wearing the glamorous dress when she first meets her love interest, played by Tom Ewell, in the 1955 romantic comedy. It still has its original 20th Century Fox label with “M. Monroe” handwritten on it.
The silk top dress was created by US costume designer William Travilla, who designed outfits for eight of Monroe’s films. It was made with a series of strategically placed weights sewn in to help it mould around her curves.
The sale takes place on July 16.
