Pedestrian dies after being hit by ambulance

A pedestrian has died after being struck by an ambulance on a dual carriageway.

The fatal collision happened shortly after 4am yesterday in Newton Abbot, Devon.

The man was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital where he died from his injuries.

Devon and Cornwall Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision, which took place on the A380.

A four-mile stretch of the carriageway remained closed for several hours after the incident, as police investigations continued.
