Cider with rosé apples puts picnics in the pink

- By Patrick Sawer

IT HAS long been a gateway drink of teenagers, promising a great night and a morning hangover to boast about.

But cider is becoming the go-to drink for picnickers, thanks to a dash of blush.

The alcoholic apple drink is going pink to make it attractive to families as well as social media-conscious influencers and celebrities.

Magners is producing a range of pink cider made of light blush apples sweeter than the ones used for the original. It will be canned for extra convenience, making it easier to take to picnics and outside gatherings.

The rosé was introduced in 2019, but is now sold in a can. Magners launched it due to the popularity of canned drinks during the pandemic.

The brewing giant says Magners Rosé cider is made from a blend of 17 apple varieties selected from orchards in Tipperary, Ireland, the same orchard as the company’s Original recipe.
