Women’s pensions
SIR – I am delighted that the Department for Work and Pensions is finally taking on more staff to reassess the pension entitlement of many elderly women like myself (report, September 22).
From an initial inquiry in June 2020, it took two reminders and a letter of complaint – none of which were even acknowledged – plus a further letter and reminder from my MP before, this June, I was awarded substantial arrears dating back 12 years and an increase of 170 per cent in my weekly pension.
I still await replies from the DWP about interest payable, and from HMRC about any tax liability.
