Christian electrician can sue NHS after ‘gay’ row

-

An electrician has been allowed to sue the NHS for discrimination by arguing that his opposition to gay marriage amounts to a religious belief.

Brian Walker claims he was treated unfairly by the health service for expressing “traditional biblical” views.

His belief that his “Christian sexual ethics based on the Bible” are protected philosophies will now be tested at an employment tribunal.

Judge Derek Reed dismissed the NHS submission to strike out his claim on the grounds his beliefs were “not worthy of respect”. Mr Walker had been employed at Southmead Hospital in Bristol when a healthcare assistant complained about him in May 2018.
