Portugal heads for hung parliament

-

Portuguese voters go to the polls today in a tightly fought general election, with polls pointing to huge gains by the far Right and a hung parliament.

Prime Minister António Costa’s Socialists, in office since 2015, are neck-andneck with the main opposition centre-right PSD party.

Costa, 60, has warned that a PSD government would be held “hostage” by far-Right party Chega whose support it would likely need.
