Your Body Uncovered with Kate Garraway
BBC Two, 8pm; Wales, 8.30pm
Two patients are given access to augmented reality scans of their own bodies to assess the cause of the problem and the best possible solution in the company of medical professionals. Trudi is struggling with a frozen shoulder, stopping her from performing everyday tasks. Hilda, meanwhile, has 90-plus fibroids on her uterus (five to 10 is the norm), with the crippling pain and regular bleeding proving both exhausting and traumatic. The jovial Trudi is offered a steroid injection. Hilda, though, must decide whether to undergo an operation that could necessitate a hysterectomy. For all her personal experience of health challenges after her husband’s Covid diagnosis, host Kate Garraway’s presence borders on the superfluous, but she does give a welcome shoulder to cry on. Otherwise, this is good, solid publichealth broadcasting, interspersed with time-filling quick tips and a clearheaded assessment of good medical practice: knowledge is power, for patients as much as doctors.
