Regency English proves mouthful in Bridgerton

stars have struggled with the language on set because it is so archaic, one of the actors has said.

Luke Thompson, who plays Benedict Bridgerton in the hit Netflix show, said the actors could not wrap their heads around the Regency English used. Speaking to Red magazine, the 33-year-old admitted he also “repeatedly failed” when trying to speak in a formal manner in the show, which ranked as Netflix’s most watched series before Squid Game.

He said: “Watching anyone (myself included) trying to wrap their mouths around [Regency English] and failing repeatedly is one of my favourite things.”
