Plant: bandmate’s death was end of Led Zeppelin

-

Robert Plant, Led Zeppelin’s frontman, has said that the band’s break-up was “inevitable” after the death of bandmate John Bonham from alcohol poisoning at the age of 32.

Speaking to BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, the singer remembered first meeting Bonham at the age of 16 after performing with a neighbourhood band in 1965.

“He said: ‘Look, you’re going somewhere really special, but you will never get there without me’ and he was right... John and I walked a million miles together. He was an incredible character and so encouraging for me.”
