Aircraft crash kills marines in Norway drill

FOUR American marines have been killed in a military plane crash in Norway.

The US Marine Corps V-22B Osprey was reported missing on Friday near Bodo in the north of the country.

They had been taking part in Nato exercises involving 30,000 troops, 200 planes and 50 ships, to practise defending Norwegian territory in cold weather.

The exerc i ses were planned before the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Rescue services reached the crash site early yesterday after helicopters were unable to land owing to heavy rain.
