Uber secures operating licence for London
Uber has been granted a two-and-ahalf-year licence to operate private hire vehicles in London.
It had been denied a licence by Transport for London in November 2019, but went to court to secure an 18-month permit in September 2020, despite what a judge said were “historical failings”.
Uber yesterday said it is “pleased” to have met TfL’s high bar for standards.
The firm posted: “We remain focused on raising industry standards in all areas. These include offering drivers the benefits and protections they deserve, ensuring all Londoners get around safely and becoming a fully electric platform by 2025.”
