Two children seriously hurt after blaze in house

A five-year-old boy and a three-yearold girl are in a critical condition in hospital after a house fire, police said.

Emergency services were called to the blaze in Preston, Lancashire, at about 8pm on Friday, following reports of a house fire with several people trapped inside.

The two children are in a critical condition while a woman in her 20s is in hospital with injuries that are not thought to be life-threatening, a Lancashire police spokesman said.

The fire is being treated as unexplained and an investigation is being carried out by police and Lancashire fire and rescue service.
