Aitken’s wife dies after long illness, aged 85

The wife of Jonathan Aitken, the former Cabinet minister, died on Good Friday aged 85.

Elizabeth Harris, née Rees-Williams, a socialite and actress who was previously married to Richard Harris, the actor, died at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital after a long illness.

The daughter of the first Baron Ogmore, a Labour Cabinet minister in the 1945-51 Attlee government, she was also formerly married to actor Sir Rex Harrison and Peter Aitken, the cousin of her widower.

Her funeral will be held on a date to be announced at St Matthew’s, Westminster.
