Trailblazer The Duchess of Sussex’s clear fashion nod to Diana, Princess of Wales

- TamaraAbraham

When the Duchess of Sussex made her debut as Prince Harry’s girlfriend at the Invictus Games in 2017, she kept it low-key in a pair of jeans and that infamous Misha Nonoo shirt.

One royal wedding, two children and a transatlantic move later, the dress code hasn’t changed much, so it’s no wonder Meghan, 40, opted for a white top and a pair of jeans once again.

But it was her blazer that was the real hero, a £2,500 boucle tweed design by Celine, which bears an uncanny resemblance to one that Diana, Princess of Wales, right, owned owne and wore back in 1989 for an engagement en at the Royal Academy Aca of Dramatic Dra Arts. But Bu as Harry’s wife, Meghan’s sartorial references r to Diana D carry deeper dee meaning.

She has the privilege of wearing Diana’s Cartier watch, and also owns her aquamarine ring, a diamond tennis bracelet, diamond butterfly earrings and a gold cuff. Meghan is very intentional in the way she dresses – just look at how she regularly carries handbags from the same brand as her jackets – so the nod to Diana won’t have been a coincidence. This is pure homage.
