Locker key from Titanic auctioned for £69,000
A corroded iron key from the Titanic sold at auction yesterday for £69,000.
The key, with brass tag inscribed “Locker 27, E deck”, belonged to Sidney Sedunary, a 23-year-old ship’s steward on the doomed vessel.
His body was later recovered and his possessions, including his pocket watch and keys to his cabin were sent to his pregnant wife, Madge.
Yesterday it was sold by Titanic memorabilia specialists Henry Aldridge auctioneers in Wiltshire.
Mr Sedunary was one of 1,500 passengers and crew who died when the passenger liner hit an iceberg in April 1912.
