Motorway cyclist held by police on drugs charge

A cyclist has been arrested for suspected drug possession after he was stopped by police after riding in the middle lane of a motorway.

The rider was spotted pedalling along lane two of the M3 motorway near to junction 13 at Eastleigh, Hampshire, at 5am on Saturday.

Hampshire Police’s roads policing unit posted on Twitter that the cyclist refused to stop for officers and rode into the third lane before being forced to a halt on the motorway’s verge area.

The force said the suspect was arrested for “causing danger to road users and suspected possession of a class A substance”.
