High-tech warfare
SIR – I was pleased to see your report (May 8) that the Rochester Airport site is still being used for the development, design and manufacture of military high-tech systems.
I had the privilege in 1962 of being seconded there from the British Army during the design of the first digital computer for the Royal Artillery. In adjacent laboratories much secret work was being conducted for the radars of the TSR2 aircraft.
