Worthless degrees

SIR – I am a recruitment specialist with 35 years’ experience. Your report (May 13) on the growing number of firstclass degrees being awarded confirms that they have lost credibility.

Many first-class graduates are coming through having achieved B, C and D grades at A-level, which is a much stronger indicator.

We have many clients who are conducting their own internal tests, as they no longer feel that degree results can be trusted. This is a terrible indictment of Britain’s education system.
