A statue has been unveiled of palaeontol­ogist Mary Anning, a resident of Lyme Regis in the 19th century, who was known for her discoverie­s of marine Jurassic fossils in the rocks and cliffs close to the Dorset town. The statue recognisin­g her achievemen­ts was establishe­d and fought for by local schoolgirl Evie Swire, who raised money for the monument.
