Prince Andrew more popular than Sussexes in America
THE Duke and Duchess of Sussex are more unpopular in the US than Prince Andrew, a poll has found.
Prince Harry’s popularity has sunk 48 points since December, giving him an approval rating of -10, according to a poll of US adults by Newsweek.
The Duchess has become less popular among Americans, with her approval rating sinking by 40 points to -17.
The poll follows the release of the Duke’s tell-all memoir Spare in January, which led to a backlash for revealing intimate details about the Royal family and his time in the military. By contrast Prince Andrew, who has been widely condemned for his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex trafficker, was given a net approval rating of -2, making him more popular than the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
Just 28 per cent of respondents said they dislike the Duke of York, while 26 per cent confessed they like him.
The majority of Americans were apathetic towards Queen Elizabeth II’s disgraced son, with 32 per cent admitting they find him “neither favourable nor unfavourable”, while a further 13 percent confessed they “don’t know” how they feel.
By contrast, they are much more opinionated when it comes to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Some 18 per cent said they were on the fence about Prince Harry, and 7 per cent admitted they don’t have an opinion.
Overall, the poll found that 32 per cent of Americans feel positive about Prince Harry and 27 per cent are favourably towards the Duchess.
But 42 per cent felt negatively towards the Duke and 44 per cent disliked the Duchess.
The results were a stark contrast to the British opinion of Prince Andrew. A YouGov survey in January found that 86 per cent of the nation feel negatively towards him.
