Superyacht fleet history, 2002-2011

• After the turn of the century, the superyacht fleet began a period of unprecedented growth. A further 2,040 units would be delivered during a decade dominated by Italian shipyards.

• 359 shipyards would make at least one delivery during the decade,

with the fleet growing at an average of 6.6 per cent per year.

• A record 267 superyachts were delivered in 2008, shortly before the

effects of the Global Financial Crisis of the same year would be felt.
