Superyacht fleet history, 2012-2021

• Fleet growth was far more steady after 2012, as the Global Financial Crisis of 2008 resulted in few superyacht commissions and fewer active shipyards. Between 2012 and 2016, 214 shipyards delivered at least one project. Between 2017 and 2021, that number fell to 137.

• This is the period when the size of vessels began to increase. 60-90m superyachts accounted for nine per cent of all deliveries, compared with six per cent the decade before. The average size of delivered superyachts increased by 3.2m compared to the previous decade.
