School brings a Disney classic to life on the stage
MORE than just a "tale as old as time," Uffculme School's recent production of Beauty and the Beast became a story of personal growth.
More than 120 students performed the Disney classic with over 1,400 people turning up to watch and support the performers.
The cast and crew dedicated countless hours of their time to ensuring the production was big, bold and beautiful.
Emma Croft, head of performing arts, said: “Beauty and the Beast is about transformation, echoing the journey many students have made in developing their confidence throughout the process.
“It is a privilege to work for a school that not only supports performing arts but also recognises the values it has to help young people find their voice. It was an honour to work with such an incredible cast; watching their confidence and friendships develop is a privilege.
“It is these magical moments during their time at Uffculme School that help create everlasting, lifelong memories for us all. It is with pride and joy that we can share this experience with them.”
Isabelle Margetts, who played Belle, said: “I was so honoured when I found out that I had been given the opportunity to lead the school's show of Beauty and The Beast.
“This show helped me in many ways. For starters, it provided me with the opportunity to meet people from all over the school with different interests, and it helped me develop my performance skills.
“Also, it allowed me to have an insight into the world of theatre with the school's professional standards and so much more. It was an allround, amazing experience.
“Everyone played a huge role in this as we were all so close by performance week. So many people, me included, will remember, and carry this show with them as a highlight of their school career.”
