This in­cred­i­ble body of wa­ter in the Lake Dis­trict stretches for three miles. It con­tains four ma­jor is­lands; Der­went Is­land, Lord’s Is­land, Ramp­sholme Is­land and St Her­bert’s Is­land. The Earl of Der­went­wa­ter once lived on Lord’s Is­land, and the re­mains of his house can still be seen in the un­der­growth.

Der­went­wa­ter is the per­fect place for wa­ter sports. The 2016 film, Swallows and

Ama­zons, was filmed here, and ca­noes for hire al­low visi­tors to explore the movie’s lo­ca­tions.
