The eastern quoll makes a comeback

-

For the first time in more than 50 years, a rare species known as the eastern quoll has been born in the wild on mainland Australia. The marsupials (animals whose babies live in their mother’s pouch, like a kangaroo) were almost driven to extinction by disease and predators. 20 quolls were released into the Booderee National Park earlier this year. Scientists have discovered that three of the females are each carrying five joeys in their pouches.
