Thousands flee bombing
In the last two weeks, more than 270,000 Syrians have escaped bombing in southern Syria, in the Deraa province. The fighting began on 19 June when forces loyal to Syrian president, Bashar al-Assad, launched an attack on towns in Deraa that are held by rebel forces (fighters who don’t want Assad in power).
The civilians who are leaving their homes are heading towards neighbouring Jordan.
