Make friends

- By Dean Burnett, author of Why Your Parents Are Driving You Up the Wall and What to Do About It

Making friends is important, especially when you’re young. It can be difficult, particularly when doing something like starting a new school, but there are some ways to get around this.

It’s better to focus on those with whom you have similar interests. If you like a sport or have any other hobbies, sign up for clubs or groups that do these things. It’s human nature to group up and connect, and it’s much easier to do this with someone with whom you have things in common.

It could also make it easier if you’re seen as a generous, approachable type of person. By offering to help others and asking someone about their interests, you can make it clear that you’re friendly and warm-hearted. Lasting friendships have blossomed from less.

The most important thing about making friends is to be friendly, and if you want to make friends, you clearly already are.
