Deadly earthquake causes chaos
At least 40 people have died and more than 800 were hurt after an earthquake hit north-eastern Pakistan on 24 September. The 5.8 magnitude earthquake cracked roads and destroyed mobile phone masts (magnitude is the measurement used to describe the size of an earthquake – the higher the number, the more serious the quake). Pakistan’s military forces are sending food, drinking water and medicine to the areas that have been worst affected.
