Cue 3

Standing at more than two metres tall, Cue 3 is a basketball-playing robot made by the car company Toyota. Cue 3 is so good that it beat two professional players in a threepoint shooting contest in Tokyo.

Forpheus

Built by the electronics company Omron, Forpheus is a robot that’s been designed to play table tennis. It has five cameras to keep track of the ball and an arm that copies the twists and flicks of a human wrist.

RoboCup

A football tournament for robots called the RoboCup has been held every year since 1997. The aim is to develop a team by 2050 that can beat the World Cup winners. We’ll have to wait to see if they succeed!
