The wait for Alex Rider fans is finally over, as the teenage spy is back for a third and final series. Alongside his friends, Alex must take on the secretive organisation known as Scorpia, with lots of thrills in store for viewers.

Otto Farrant, the actor who plays Alex, tells The Week Junior that Scorpia is not just the biggest threat to the world but also to Alex himself, as the teenager learns about who he truly is. “It’s a big emotional journey,” says Farrant. “And in that, there’s a lot of action, there’s some fun and there are even some surprises.”

Actor Vicky McClure is back as Mrs Jones, a high-ranking member of MI6 who has watched over and protected Alex in previous series. McClure tells The Week Junior that her character is a very focused and dedicated person with a warm heart. “She genuinely cares about people,” she says.

Now to the most important question of all: would Farrant and McClure make good spies themselves? Farrant would give it his best shot but admits it would probably “be a lot more serious” in real life. “I’ll stick to the acting,” he says.

However, McClure thinks there would be some perks to the job. “If you needed to know some information, you could just get that information,” she says. “You get to see a lot of places, but it’s not something I’d want to do.”

Series three of Alex Rider is based on Anthony Horowitz’s 2004 novel Scorpia, the fifth book in the popular Alex Rider series. Alex Rider series one to three (rated 12) are available to watch on Amazon Freevee, a free streaming service.
