Basa Blanco, Rueda, Telmo Rodriguez 2016
I admit to having quite a lot to learn about Spanish whites, as I haven’t been exposed to many of them, making it all the more pleasurable when I realize how intriguing they can be. Telmo Rodriguez made quite a name for himself by focusing on local grape varieties in the Navarra region before heading south to Rueda. This fresh lively wine is a blend of 90% Verdejo and the rest from Viura. It has a clean citrusy backbone with peach like flavours. The opposite of unctuous, it’s perfect with light fish dishes or simply by itself.
