Chateau Valflaunes, Esperance Pic Saint Loup 2015
Interestingly, Proprietor Fabien Reboul spent a decade making wine in Burgundy, the Rhône, Oregon and New Zealand before establishing himself in France’s Languedoc. I suspect his experience with the Pinot Noir grape has helped him create a lighter balanced wine rather than in the usually heavier Rhone style. It would be easy to mistake this as a well-made CrozesHermitage from the northern Rhone, with its excellent floral overtones. Yet again, an excellent wine enhanced by being from the exceptional 2015 vintage.
