Tips of the week... how to have a home spa day

-

First of all, set the mood with scented candles or incense. The beauty of a home spa is that you can choose the scent.

If you’re feeling extravagant, try a Jo

Malone London orange blossom candle

(£51; jomalone.co.uk). Next, boost your complexion – which might be suffering from too much time indoors – with a nourishing face mask. Charlotte Tilbury’s

Goddess Skin clay mask blends Spanish clay, sweet almond oil and vitamin C (from £10; spacenk.com). To soften the rest of your skin, run a bath with a rich bath oil, such as Sister & Co’s Rosa bath soak (£20; sisterand company.co.uk). Since ordinary massages are currently out of reach – unless members of your household can be persuaded to give it a go – give yourself a facial one. Use a few drops of facial oil (Elemis superfood facial oil comes highly recommended, £45; elemis. com), and a jade roller or the Hayo’u Beauty Restorer (£38; facegym.com) to press gently all over the face, under and over closed eyes, and the neck. The idea is to drain excess fluid from the lymph glands. Next, you can move onto a mani-pedi. There are lots of good nail varnishes out there, but if you want to replicate a long-lasting shellac manicure, try the Mylee complete professional gel nail polish LED lamp kit (£95; amazon.co.uk). To relax, try apps such as Just Breathe or Calm, or find rain, wave or crackling firewood sounds online. Finally, if you’ve been struggling to get a good night’s sleep, try REN’s & now to sleep pillow spray (£19; renskincare.com), a blend of lavender, frankincense and cedarwood.
