Marjorie Taylor Greene ,a right-wing Republican who in the past subscribed to the QAnon conspiracy theory, isn’t happy with the police presence in Washington. Last week she lashed out at the House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s “gazpacho police spying on members of Congress” – apparently confusing the cold Spanish soup with the Nazi Gestapo. She was widely mocked, but the podcaster Ken White stood up for her, describing Greene as “one of the most constant and effective critics of this adminestrone”.

Brooklyn Beckham, David and Victoria’s son, has a new cookery show, Cookin’ With Brooklyn, in which he shows off dishes including a fish and chip sandwich. There’s only one problem, the New York Post reported: he can’t actually cook. In fact, the 22-year-old is said to rely on a team of 62 people to help him, along with an illustrated “cheat sheet” to explain terms like “whisk” and “parboil” on the show – each episode of which costs $100,000. “He is to cooking what [his mother] Posh was to singing,” said a source.

Joe Biden is famously proud of his Irish heritage; and his mother’s background meant she had strong views on the English, a new book reveals. In an autobiography, British writer Georgia Pritchett recalls meeting Biden, then vice-president, who told her that his mother visited England and spent a night in a hotel where the Queen had once stayed. “She was so appalled that she slept on the floor all night, rather than risk sleeping on a bed that the Queen had slept on,” Pritchett wrote.
