Mr Sofroniou tried to return the stolen items to the stores in order to claim a refund for the items. He was found guilty of three counts of fraud by false representa­tion.

For all of the offences, Mr Sofroniou was ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid community work within the next 12 months.

A MAN from Wokingham is due to appear in court charged with criminal damage and a public order offence.

David Albert East, 47, of Oxford Road, appeared at Reading Magistrate­s’ Court on October 11 where he was charged with damaging a garden gate and back door handle of a property in Finchampst­ead on October 9. He was also charged with using threatenin­g, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear or, or provoke, unlawful violence, towards a woman in Finchampst­ead on the same day. Mr East denies both charges. He has been remanded on bail to appear at Reading Magistrate­s’ Court on November 20 for the trial. He is not to contact the woman directly or indirectly before that time, and is not to enter Finchampst­ead before that time.

A WOMAN from Wokingham is due to appear in court charged with public order offences.

Rebecca Leighton, 38, of Broad Street, is charged with racially or religiousl­y aggravated intentiona­l harassment, alarm or distress, and using threatenin­g, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress. Ms Leighton denies both charges.

A MAN from Grazeley has been found guilty of using an offensive weapon to threaten a man.

Larc Lang, 61, of Lambwood Hill, appeared at Reading Magistrate­s’ Court on October 11 where he was found guilty of threatenin­g a man with a knife or tool in Padworth Lane, Padworth, on August 16, 2016. Mr Lang had denied the charge.

He was given a six-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months; ordered to carry out

150 hours of supervised unpaid community work within the next 12 months; pay a surcharge of £115; and costs of £625.

A MAN is due to appear in court charged with aggravated burglary of a property in Earley.

Carl Luke Raymond CserfalviY­oung, 37, of The Meadway, Tilehurst, is charged with entering the property in Faygate Way as a trespasser on January 21, and attempting to inflict grievous bodily harm on a man with a baseball bat.

Mr Cserfalvi-Young has been sent for trial at Reading Crown Court on November 11. He is not to contact the victim or another man, directly or indirectly, before that time, and is not to enter Faygate Way. He is to report to Reading police station between noon and 2pm every day.
