Bird swoops for dog

-

A MAN out walking his dog had the fright of his life when a bird swooped in for the kill.

The incident took place on Monday in Laurel Park in Earley.

The man, who did not want to be named, said that it was a crazy moment of nature.

He told The Wokingham Paper: “I was walking the dogs as normal and the bird was circling lower than I’ve seen.

“I was on the phone at the time and if I wasn’t I’d have videod how low it was as I think they’re beautiful creatures.

“One of my dogs got spooked by it – given how low it was while the other one was oblivious to it.

“She was doing the usual rolling in mud when the bird swooped at her and barely missed.”

The man said the kite was barely inches away from his beloved pet so he started shouting at the bird, thought to be a kite, to call it off the scent – and then his dog helped out.

“She’s feisty so chased it and was barking at it,” he said.

He hopes that by warning other small dog owners, they will be aware of the potential danger to dogs while walking in the park.
