A MAN from Wokingham has been remanded on bail accused of stealing clothes and assaulting another man. He denies the charges.

At a hearing at Reading Magistrate­s Court on March 3, Leroy Hayward, 38 and from Queen Victoria House, Peach Street, denied the charge of assault made on January 26 and also a second charge on the same day of stealing two North Face jackets, worth

£400, from Millets in Peach Street.

Hayward has been remanded on bail until Tuesday, April 24, one of his conditions is not to enter Millets.

A BUILDER from Pangbourne was fined £467 for unfair trading at a home in Winnersh.

Al Dewhurst, trading as Stalwart Builders of Thames Avenue, pleaded guilty to knowingly engaging in a commercial practice which breached the Unfair Trading Regulation­s act of 2008, for the work to the house in Reading Road.

He also had to pay costs of £3,170.34 and £46 to Victim Services.

A WOMAN from Wokingham has been fined for driving a vehicle without a valid MoT or insurance.

Sara Mary Wynne Denman,

61, from Ashville Way, was not present at Reading Magistrate­s Court on Monday, March 5 for the hearing. She had pleaded guilty to the charges after being stopped in Rances Lane by police on May 12 last year. She was fined £293, ordered to pay £100 costs and £30 to Victim Services. She also has six points added to her licence. AN EARLEY man who failed to turn up for community service was given an additional 20 hours’ unpaid work by Reading Magistrate­s Court.

At the hearing on March 5, Slawek Dziublewsk­i, 22 and of Church Road, admitted breaching an order made on November 28 last year to carry out 50 hours of community service.

He now has to carry out 70 hours in total.

AN EARLEY man who failed to turn up for community service was given an additional 14 hours’ unpaid work by Reading Magistrate­s Court.

At the hearing on March 5, Scott Edwards, 33 and from Aston Court, off Wokingham Road, admitted breaching the order made on December 29, 2016.

He had failed to attend community service on

January 29 this year.

He was originally ordered to carry out 80 hours, the judge imposed another 14 hours and ordered him to pay costs of £60. AN ORDER for the courts to seize £10,130 from an Earley man was made by Reading Magistrate­s Court on March 5.

The order was made under the proceeds of crime act 2002 for the sum of money to be recovered along with any interest. The order was made to Imran Merzal Beg of Faygate Way. He was not present at the hearing.

A MAN has been given a

12-week suspended jail sentence for assaulting a man and damaging a car in Woodley.

Lucio Martins Moreira, 24 and from Dawlish Road in Reading, pleaded guilty the offences at a hearing at Reading Magistrate­s Court on March 6.

On January 24, he beat another man in Reading, while two days later police caught him in Woodley damaging a Mitsubishi Colt. He is banned from going within 100 metres of any address where the car’s owner lives or works and can only have contact with the victim via solicitors, social services of probation officers for the purpose of child contact.

Moreira had to pay compensati­on of £464 to the car victim and £200 to the man he assaulted, carry out a total of 80 hours community service, pay costs of £85 and also £115 to Victim Services.

A MAN who beat a pregnant woman has been given a six-month

suspended jail sentence by Reading Magistrate­s Court.

At the hearing on March 6, Luke Kevin Joseph, 20 and from Raleigh Close in Woodley, pleaded guilty to the offence, which took place in Shinfield on February 6.

The woman was eight months pregnant at the time.

As part of his sentence, Luke was ordered to take part in a 30day rehabilita­tion programme to address relationsh­ips. He is banned from contacting the victim and a second woman, or visit their homes in Shinfield and Woodley.

He also had to pay £640 costs at a rate of £5 per week.

A MOTORIST from Basingstok­e was found guilty of speeding in Beech Hill.

Craig Sherwood, 37 and from Wiltshire Crescent, was caught driving at 48mph in Beech Hill Road, where the speed limit is 30mph, on May 10 last year. He pleaded guilty at the hearing, which took place at Reading Magistrate­s Court on March 6.

He was fined £220, given four penalty points, ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 to victim services.

DRIVING without insurance saw Craig Gibson receive six penalty points on his licence.

The 32-year-old from Dunstans Drive in Winnersh was stopped on August 7 in Bramshill in Hampshire. He pleaded guilty at the hearing at Reading Magistrate­s Court on March 6.

He was ordered to pay a £60 fine, £85 costs and £30 to victim services.
