FOLLOWING a collection of more than 7,472 Easter eggs from the Berkshire

Egg Run by the Thames Vale Vultures Motorcycle Owners Group at their Good Friday Egg Run Rally the Reading Rotary Clubs took on the daunting task of delivering more than 5,000 boxed eggs to the vulnerable or disadvantaged children and elderly citizens of Berkshire.

This is the fourth time that Reading Rotary Clubs have teamed up with the Thames Vale Vultures and we’re delighted

to have helped in the delivery of several thousand boxed eggs. But, it wasn’t all plainsailing because The Vultures made the last tranche of more than 2,500 eggs available to Rotary at the Good Friday Rally.

This was at a time when all additional needs schools had closed for the extended Easter break and many care homes refused any access over the Easter Bank holiday weekend.

Despite this Rotary in Reading used its depth of contacts in the Berkshire community to deliver all the eggs within a week of the rally.

Many of the egg recipients were delighted – and some of them received the eggs uneggspectedly.

The happy egg-eaters ranged from the Special Needs children at Addington and The Avenue schools to the elderly residents of the Age Concern Day Centre in Twyford. Waving hands in the air combined with yelps of delight seemed to be the most popular way of showing their appreciation and many wanted to know where the eggs had come from, about Rotary in Reading and The Thames Vale Vultures.

The Reading Rotary Clubs have thoroughly enjoyed working with the Thames Vale Vultures in this very eggciting project to bring moments of happiness to some of the needy in our community and we look forward to combining again next year to bring even more eggstacy to vulnerable and disadvantaged groups in Berkshire.
